About Visual PLC Studio
Why we built Visual PLC Studio
Programmable logic controllers run conveyors, packaging lines, water treatment plants, and building systems all over the world. Yet learning to program them has traditionally meant expensive vendor licenses, Windows-only software, and physical trainer hardware. Visual PLC Studio exists to lower that barrier. Our goal is to make it possible for anyone with a browser to write real IEC 61131-3 control logic, run it on a faithful scan cycle, and see it drive a machine. The editors, compiler and scan engine all run in the browser tab, so there is nothing to install unless you want to reach real hardware. Simulation comes built in: tags bind to an interactive 3D scene or to an external I/O simulator, and an optional local gateway speaks Modbus and OPC UA to devices on your bench. Projects are saved in the vendor-neutral PLCopen XML format, so your work is never locked to one tool.
What we offer
- Logic Studio : editors for Ladder Diagram and Structured Text, including standard timers, counters and edge-detection blocks. Function Block Diagram and Sequential Function Chart are coming in the near future.
- A browser-based scan engine : your program is compiled to WebAssembly and executed in a background worker with a PLC-style input, output and memory image, so timing and rung evaluation behave the way they would on a controller.
- Simulation : bind tags to an interactive 3D scene or to an external 3D simulator and test your logic against a virtual plant.
- Hardware Gateway : an optional local agent that connects your browser session to Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (USB serial) and OPC UA, for bench testing with real devices.
- Open formats : projects use the vendor-neutral IEC 61131-10 (PLCopen XML) schema, so your work stays portable.
Who uses it
Visual PLC Studio is designed for electrical and mechatronics students, instructors running PLC courses, automation engineers who want a quick sandbox for prototyping a sequence, and integrators and hobbyists experimenting with industrial protocols on the bench.
How we think about safety
Visual PLC Studio is a development, education and simulation tool. It is not a safety-certified controller and is never a substitute for a properly engineered, validated control system on real equipment. We say this plainly throughout the product and in our Terms and Conditions.
