Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 4, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Visual PLC Studio, including our website, the browser-based PLC programming environment, and the optional Hardware Gateway software (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your password confidential, and for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately through our contact form if you suspect unauthorised use.
2. Important safety notice
Visual PLC Studio is a development, education and simulation tool. It is not a safety-rated or certified programmable logic controller. Simulated behavior, including scan timing, 3D I/O simulation, and data passed through the Hardware Gateway, may differ from the behavior of a physical controller. You must not use the Service, or logic produced with it, as the control or safety system for real machinery, processes, or equipment where a failure could cause death, injury, property damage, or environmental harm, unless that logic has been independently engineered, validated, and commissioned by qualified personnel in accordance with applicable standards (such as IEC 61508, IEC 62061, or ISO 13849). When you connect the Hardware Gateway to physical devices, you are solely responsible for ensuring it is safe to do so.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or projects, or probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission.
- Use the Service or the Hardware Gateway to access, disrupt or attack industrial systems, networks or devices you do not own or are not authorised to operate.
- Interfere with the Service, overload our infrastructure, or use automated means to create accounts or submit content.
- Reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly allows it, or resell the Service without our permission.
- Click, or cause others to click, advertisements on the Service in any way that is fraudulent or artificially inflates ad activity.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the programs, projects and other content you create with the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, store, copy and process Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you. You are responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own backups, as the Service lets you export projects as IEC 61131-10 XML files at any time.
5. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text and graphics, is owned by visualplcstudio.com and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted to you in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
6. Third-party services
The Service can interoperate with third-party software and devices (for example, 3D I/O simulators and Modbus and OPC UA equipment) and our public pages display advertising from third parties such as Google. We are not responsible for third-party products, services, websites or advertisements, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information and forms part of these Terms.
8. Changes and availability
We may add, change or remove features, and the Service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes that affect you.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 2, 4, 5, 10, and 11, will survive.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT SIMULATION RESULTS WILL MATCH THE BEHAVIOUR OF ANY PHYSICAL CONTROLLER OR MACHINE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VISUALPLCSTUDIO.COM WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, PRODUCTION OR EQUIPMENT, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY LOGIC CREATED WITH IT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD 100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your use of the Service or its output to control physical equipment.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which visualplcstudio.com is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws where you live.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify signed-in users. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
